![]() Next, we need to understand how the NRR value is derived so we can use that information and the measured noise level to reliably predict levels of protection achieved by a given individual. The average in the noisiest area that guests will be exposed to should be measured. Measure the noise in the tour area as the conditions will be during the tour(s). Set the meter to “slow” response and “A” weighting. To determine if a particular Noise Reduction Rated headphone will be sufficient to provide the necessary hearing protection for a given environment, as discussed above, we first need toĭetermine how noisy the tour environment is and understand how to interpret the NRR valueįirst, use a Sound Pressure Level meter to measure the dB(A) noise level of the tour environment. Both the OSHA limits and NIOSH recommendations are shown below.Īlthough tour guests are not employees of the manufacturing facility, equal consideration and precautions should be taken in protecting their hearing and creating a safe and comfortable environment. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) establishes a more stringent recommendation, Recommended Exposure Limits (REL), for noise based on the best available science and practice. When employees are subjected to sound exceeding the limits shown below, OSHA requires that personal protective equipment shall be provided. In the United States, OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration sets limits (Permissible Exposure Limits or PEL) of sound based on exposure time (OSHA Standard # 1910.95). The higher the sound level, the shorter the duration of exposure before hearing damage will occur. Sound above 85-90 dB(A) can cause hearing damage after extended exposure. Note: A 6 dB(A) to 10 dB(A) sound pressure level change is perceived as double or half the volume.Īs shown on the previous chart, normal conversation for most of us is about 60 dB(A) at 1 meter. The table below shows common sources of noise and their dB(A) level. Sound energy in the low and high frequencies in comparison to energy in the mid frequency More accurately represent the sensitivity of the human auditory system by de-emphasizing Weighted filter is applied to the measurement, dB(A), because it provides measurements that Noise is measured in units of sound pressure levels called decibels (dB). On those measurements, when hearing protection is required. Rated values it is important to understand how noise is measured and how to identify, based Noise reduction headphones are rated in decibels (dB). Here is an overview of how noise reduction rated headphones are rated and how they perform based on their Noise Reduction Rating (NRR). In these cases, a tour system equipped with noise reduction headphones may be required to both help guests hear the tour guide and to provide guests with adequate hearing protection. Some manufacturing facilities, however, can provide a challenge due to their noise levels. Guided tours of popular manufacturing facilities/factories, from breweries to aircraft manufacturers, provide visitors with a unique and memorable behind-the-scenes look at the manufacturing process. ![]() Since then Minter, as part of his Llamasoft studio, has dipped back into the series either officially, with Tempest 3000, and unofficially with Space Giraffe and, most notably, TxK which previously showed up on the PS Vita much to the chagrin of Atari who were a bit unhappy with Minter creating a blatant sequel to their IP. This brought in Minter’s trademark mix of classic gameplay, bombastic music and retina-melting visuals which became the blueprint for nearly everything he’s done since. However, while the original maintains its status as arcade royalty, it was Jeff Minter’s sequel, Tempest 2000 for the ill-fated Atari Jaguar, that gamers most fondly remember. It was a fairly simple concept but the 3D vector graphics were pretty fancy back then (anything 3D was in too so developers were doing everything they could do incorporate it) and the game remains one of the original coin-op classics. If they got to the top, they would chase you around the rim until you were caught and killed. You could circle around it in either direction while shooting the enemies that travelled through the cylinder towards you. The original Tempest was a 1981 arcade shoot ’em up which placed you on the rim of a cylinder. If you’ve followed the illustrious career of Jeff Minter, you’ll know what to expect from any game that the veteran coder releases and Tempest 4000 is exactly that. Jin PS4 tagged arcade / jeff minter / retro / shoot em up / tempest 4000 by Richie ![]() To actually do the episode justice would be to write a basic plot summary, as that’s what “Oh, Pioneers!” feels like at moments.īy far the material that is the most interesting on the Henrickson front involves the two teenagers. That’s a lot of story to service in one episode, and it meant that the show got to do very little in regards to its favorite themes of compromise, honesty, and choosing between the self and a greater creed. ![]() In rough order, we retouch on Bill’s flirtation with taking a waitress (Branka Katic) as a fourth wife, Margene (Ginnifer Goodwin) entertains an offer of being a surrogate for a neighbor, Sarah (Amanda Seyfried) struggles with her boyfriend AND her brother, Barb’s (Jeanne Tripplehorn) doubts about her polygamist life, and a host of other minor moments and storylines (from Nicki (Chloë Sevigny) suspecting Bill of having her father shot to the whole Weber Gaming situation). What’s more, the Juniper Creek storyline (featuring Alby (Matt Ross) trying to seize power while Roman (Harry Dean Stanton) worked to recover in time to reclaim his power) feels focused and assured, even as the Henrickson stories are jumping back and forth from plot point to plot point. This week, though the best scenes and moments are all Henrickson-centric, the Juniper Creek storyline is actually more compelling for once, as it illustrates perfectly how the compound’s tendrils wrap into the life of Bill Henrickson (Bill Paxton) and his wives. Normally, I complain that Big Love spends too much time with the Juniper Creek gang (though I know many of you disagree-thanks for the e-mails!) to the detriment of the more interesting, more believable Henricksons, working their way through life on their mini-compound in Sandy, Utah. A lot of season finales, trying to tie up everything that happened in the season preceding, fall into this trap, and it’s hard to skate past all of those plot points and make them feel like they have some resonance to them (the Battlestar Galactica season three finale, of all things, is just about the best recent example of how to make the overstuffed finale work). ![]() The episode isn’t an awful one, by any means, but it commits one of the cardinal sins of the season finale: It turns into the “And then this happened! And this happened! And this happened!” like a child breathlessly recounting a series of events instead of an actual dramatic recreation of those events. The episode is perhaps the best evidence yet that the show can always rely on its phenomenal cast to grab hold of it and wrench it down to earth when it seems likely to go floating off into the stratosphere. The second season finale of Big Love tries to do so many things at once that it periodically flies off the rails, only to find itself righted again by a single powerful scene or moment. ![]() This is a good example of how Tresorit employs multiple layers of protection around your valuable data, always backed up by strong cryptographic routines. Even if other users have access to the group key file, they still won't be able to access tresor contents, because they don't have the RSA private key to decrypt the tresor encryption key. Our servers won't allow non-tresor members to download this file. When a member downloads the contents of a tresor, their Tresorit application first downloads the group key file, decrypts the encryption keys with its own agreement private key, and uses it to decrypt the root folder and the tresor’s content. This file serves as the starting point when accessing a tresor. Group Key FileĮach tresor contains a special file in the cloud called the group key file, containing the encryption key protected by each member's agreement public key. Periodically and on certain operations, like password change, new secrets are generated into your roaming profile, including a new agreement key pair, which is updated in all your tresors to ensure cryptographic access revocation of your old password. The agreement private keys are stored securely in the users' roaming profile.Įvery user has multiple agreement keys (public/private pairs). This way all tresor members are able to decrypt the encryption key needed to access the tresor’s contents using their own agreement private key, but they don't employ any kind of common secret, only standard asymmetric encryption methods. The encryption key is is encrypted as many times as many members are in the tresor, using the personal agreement public key of each member. Tresorit also employs this scheme by encrypting the AES-256 tresor encryption key with RSA-4096 algorithm using the public key (called the agreement public key) of the tresor members. It is a common technique in cryptography to protect symmetric keys with asymmetric encryption, such as RSA. Integrity of all ciphertext is protected with HMAC-SHA-512. Folders, including file names, are encrypted the same way. ![]() Each version of a file has a random IV, so even if you change one bit in a large file, the encrypted form changes completely, ensuring that neither Tresorit, nor others have any information about your changes. All files have different, independent and freshly generated 256-bit encryption keys. I'm never one to turn down free storage, so while I may never share truly personal info there, I'll gladly make use of the 5GB of space. For encrypting the uploaded files and folders in your tresors, Tresorit uses a symmetric key encryption algorithm, more specifically AES-256, in OpenPGP CFB mode described in RFC2440. ![]() How much does concrete weigh?Ĭoncrete is usually ordered in cubic yards, but if you're looking for concrete weight it varies depending on the type of mix being used. If your project requires more concrete, multiple trucks will be necessary. The average truck holds between 9 and 11 yards total. Many ready mix companies will have a minimum order of 1 yard, and will charge shortage fees when ordering partial batches. If you’re planning to order concrete from a ready mix supplier, they’ll need to know how many yards of concrete to deliver. Large patios, driveways, pool decks and more.Ready mixed concrete by the yard is good for: A rented mixer can be very helpful, but a wheelbarrow works for just a few bags. You’ll also need additional equipment for mixing the concrete. If you’re purchasing bagged concrete you may be able to have it delivered, but if it is only a few bags you’ll be responsible for transporting it yourself. Footings for decks, pergolas, walls and more.Making repairs to foundation walls, walkways or steps.Pouring small slabs for sidewalks or patios. For smaller jobs, like a walkway, modest patio or footings, you should calculate the number of concrete bags instead. Larger jobs such as driveways are easier to complete when ordering concrete by the yard, rather than trying to mix bag after bag by hand. BAGGED CONCRETE Should I order concrete by the yard from a ready mix company or just use bags? Use the following yields per each bag size: To determine how many bags of concrete you will need, divide the total cubic yards needed by the yield. It goes without saying that not all of these places were explicitly depicted in Oblivion, so it stands to reason that there’s room for Bethesda to work on some places in the realm of Oblivion for players to visit or revisit. It’s said that there’s more than thirty thousand individual pocket dimensions scattered throughout Oblivion, created by the Daedric princes for all sorts of purposes. For starters, a return to the depths of Oblivion might be in order. There’s a ton of places in The Elder Scrolls lore that players could get a new chance to visit in Elder Scrolls 6. Possibilities of the Multiverse, Elder Scroll’s Oblivion and Beyond Clearly, it’s possible for player character to experience interdimensional adventures, and just maybe Elder Scrolls 6 will be bold enough to let the player travel to all kinds of new dimensions. There’s also several other planes that share a dimension with Nirn, the planet that all Elder Scrolls games take place on. There are thousands of pocket dimensions scattered throughout Oblivion, and that’s only one region of the multiverse that’s unexplored. What’s important about these portals for the rest of the franchise is how they established that every story in The Elder Scrolls takes place in a sprawling and complicated multiverse. Dozens of these orange portals were scattered throughout Cyrodiil as part of a plan to let Daedra wreak havoc on the mortal realm. Much of the games events revolved around a mysterious cult and a Daedric prince working to open Oblivion Gates, portals to countless pocket dimensions in the greater realm of Oblivion. What isn’t always readily apparent is that the planet where the majority of Elder Scrolls adventures take place is only one small part of a vast collection of planes of existence. There’s one particular factor of the setting and the franchise’s history that ought to return in new form. Major performance improvements and a brand new story in the world of Elder Scrolls mean that players could end up on adventures in strange places that were hardly possible before. The possibilities there are multiplied when one considers that Elder Scrolls 6 is certainly a next-gen game at this point, sure to be designed for PS5 and Xbox Series X. The Elder Scrolls franchise is an incredibly rich fantasy setting with a lot of storytelling opportunities that Bethesda hasn’t tapped into yet. Knowing so little about the game means that, for now, the possibilities are endless. However, on a certain level, that’s a good thing. Nothing is confirmed-no setting, no plot, no release date. As exciting as it was to know there’s another game coming, it looks like players will have to settle for a few more years of Skyrim replays before Elder Scrolls 6 is anything close to available.
